PLEASE SEE OUR VIRTUAL LESSON TIPS BELOW:
1) COMPUTER/TABLET - If you have a computer or a tablet, please use this for the lesson so that the student can have a better view. A phone can work but it will be difficult for the student to hear or see the teacher. Please make sure that the device you are using has full battery.
2) LIGHTING/POSITIONING - For piano students, position the device so that teacher can view the hands and student's posture. A few feet in front of the student, positioned so that the screen shows full body and hands will work best. For everyone else, please position the device so that the full body is seen with instrument.
3) STUDENTS AGES 5 to 7 - Parents, please supervise the lesson at least at the beginning to ensure that the child is sitting and understanding what is going on. We've seen with our lessons that after about 5-10 minutes, students are able to focus and have a great lesson. Please try to eliminate as many distractions as possible so that the student can focus (Turn off tv, move siblings to a different room, etc.)
4) SIBLINGS WITH LESSONS AT THE SAME TIME - If you have siblings that take lessons at the same time and at the same instrument, or you only have 1 device and area for lessons at the home, we will give you another time for the sibling. Please email us so that we can schedule that for you.
5) JOIN ONLINE LESSON - Please make sure you are signed in at your regularly scheduled time. If you do not show up 15 minutes into the lesson, you will be marked as absent. At this time we aren't able to conduct group online make ups effectively. If you miss your online (or in person) lesson, your teacher can create a short video, audio recording or musical makeup lesson activity and post it to your LessonMate Student Portal. The academy creates a free account for all enrolled MMA students at the time of registrarion. If you did not receive your Welcome email with log info for your LessonMate Student Portal, email our office staff right away! We'd hate to see you/your child miss out on the material your teacher is sending!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
WHO DO YOU TEACH?
We offer music lessons to students aged five through adult – beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Never had a music lesson? That's okay, we work with lots of beginning students. Our instructors can help you get started following your musical dreams while building a solid musical foundation.
WHAT WILL I LEARN IN MY MUSIC LESSONS?
That question is often asked by prospective students as well as parents. Our teachers make it a priority to get to know you on a personal level and to become familiar with your personal musical needs and goals.
We do not treat every student the same in terms of what and how we teach.
For example, a seven year old having their first guitar lesson will have very different needs than a fifty seven year old picking up the guitar for the second time after having had lessons as a child.
The main reason to choose the Moscow Music Academy as your music lesson provider, is that we are sensitive to the fact that every student is an individual.
If you enroll here for lessons, we will work with you to make a plan that will fit your needs and musical preferences. At the first lesson your teacher will ask you about your favorite type of music, and set goals to help you accomplish whatever musical aspirations you have for yourself or your child.
WHAT STYLES OF MUSIC DO YOU TEACH?
We teach all styles of music from rock, pop, jazz, country, blues and classical.
ARE YOUR TEACHERS QUALIFIED?
Our teachers have invested countless hours and years in private study and through universities like The Lionel Hampton School of Music and Washington State University, as well as years of professional performance experience. In addition to their teaching credentials, our teachers have warm personalities, are extremely friendly and strive to get to know each student and their parent on a personal level.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO LEARN AN INSTRUMENT?
There is no set answer of how long it takes to learn an instrument. With regular practice a basic level of playing can be accomplished in a few months. Most of our students take lessons on a long term basis because they want to be constantly improving and they find the lessons enjoyable.
I DON’T HAVE ANY MUSICAL BACKGROUND OR ABILITY. CAN I STILL HELP MY CHILD PRACTICE? Yes. Even if you don't have a musical background you can ask the teacher for advice on how to help your child practice. By simply monitoring that they are doing exercises a certain number of times per day the student will progress. Parents will occasionally sit in on their child's music lesson to get an idea of the proper way a song should sound or how the student should be positioning their hands.
