It's Here! Student Showcase Info...

Come join the fun and support your local musicians as the Moscow Music Academy students, from the young to young-at-heart, showcase their talents on piano, guitar, ukulele, drums, and voice! The showcase is free, fun, family friendly, and open to the public.
WHEN: Saturday May 6th, 1-2pm (Check in/set up for all students is 12:30pm)
WHERE: Kenworthy Theater - 508 S Main St, Moscow, ID (across from Casa Lopez/Breakfast Club)
TIME: . Showcase starts at 1pm
PARKING: Farmers Market will be winding down. If you need to drop your musician off, the best place is the parking lot or alley by the Moscow Food Coop off of the corner of 5th
and Washington St.

ALL STUDENTS:

Bring your music! Photocopy of the piece you will be playing OR bring your music book with the page marked (bookmark) so that you can find your song quickly once you are on stage
Wear something nice but comfortable.
Bring your instrument (piano & drum students: a piano and drums will be provided)

For those students that will not be performing this year, we hope that you will turn out to support the other Academy students who will be on stage. Join us for a reception in the lobby after the showcase!

Summer Lessons

I know it’s only May, but summer is just around the corner and it’s time to think about summer plans, and music lessons. Throughout my life as a musician, I have heard a similar sad story from many people. It goes something like this “I used to play music when I was young, but I quit, and I really wish I still played.”

Somewhere along the way they lost their momentum in their pursuit of music. Something happened that caused them to lose interest. One of the most common reasons this occurs is actually a summer break from music lessons.

What happens is this; without the regular music lessons students tend to develop sporadic practice habits or even stop practicing altogether. Without regular practice muscle memory and skills are lost, progress slows, can stop, and can even regress. When progress is lost students may lose interest or feel that it is too much trouble to have to relearn what they have forgotten. Some younger students may feel bad for having forgotten how to play and do not want to face their instructor.

This is why we have lessons year-round. We don’t want our students to be telling that story in their future.

Now maybe you’re thinking, “Wait a minute Ms. Michelle, our family has summer vacation plans and we would miss several of our scheduled lessons. Is it worth it to stay enrolled in lessons for the summer?”

Well, this is one of the main reasons we offer free group make up lessons on Saturdays. Miss your regularly scheduled lesson, for any reason, you can sign up for one of our free, hour-long, group make up lessons. There is no limit, and they don’t expire.

Celebrating Student Achievement • The Musical Ladder System®

Moscow Music Academy is one of the first schools in the country (and the ONLY one of two music schools in the Inland Northwest) that gives their students the opportunity to earn special color wristband bracelets, trophies AND certificates for completing musical milestones and tests with the Musical Ladder System®.

Similar to karate belt tests, every 90 days or so students have a test with their private music instructor. When they pass, they receive really cool color wristbands with the name of the level they passed. They also receive a certificate, and at some levels, a trophy.

Also, remember that we cannot hold your lesson time if you withdraw from regular lessons. As MMA continues to grow and many of our teachers’ schedules are near or at capacity. Prime lesson times are in high demand. If you stay enrolled over the summer you can keep your preferred lesson time(s).

Good News! Thanks to many of your awesome referrals our enrollment continues to grow! For those of you that have Monday, Tuesday and Thursday lessons, you've no doubt noticed that the waiting area is as busy as ever with parents and siblings.

This also means we need to manage scheduling more closely in order to avoid double booking new incoming students with ones that have asked their teacher for a reschedule.

To avoid miscommunication and double-bookings we launched our new free Group Make-up program! Here's how it works

Simply Sign-up for one of our group makeup lessons HERE ! Be sure to specify which date we can expect you. A Reservation is required, and notice must be given a week in advance.

We want our new students to enjoy the same quality experience when starting lessons as each of you did. By following this new program you will be helping a great deal as we continue to grow!
